A few years ago, we bought the first few weeks of vacation time. We had no idea what we were getting into, but made the purchase and never regretted the decision.
The choice to shop for weeks at a beach in an area we enjoyed visiting was good. For the first few years we used the summer week to return to our resort and exchange the early autumn week.
One of our first exchanges was at Hilton Head Island, where we discovered Island Club with a good staff and many tennis courts, where guests could play for free. As ardent tennis players, we got excited. The resort prospered on a beautiful wide beach that was very remote at the time. We could walk for what looked like miles in one direction without encountering a soul. We didn't even have to wash our feet in the low tide. At higher tides we could bump into rocks to continue our journey.
We loved that place so much that we decided to make our next purchase directly from the resort without attending a sales meeting. We now owned three weeks, which friends at home told us was a big mistake.
It wasn't for us. We had two weeks to use each year and one to trade.
And what a pleasure we had trading! Poconos in Pennsylvania provided picturesque landscapes. From the photos taken during this trip I created some great acrylic paintings, 42 by 54 inches, which I later sold at the commercial locations that have them on display. We made a trip to the Bahamas, where we had exchanged weeks in two countries. Not only did I create larger acrylic paintings from that trip, but I also found the setting for one of my novels.
The setting for another book came from two exchanges on the island of Antigua. We found a wonderful resort there in an exotic location near the Caribbean Sea. After visiting the Museum of History at Island & 39, the spark was born for Secrets by the Sea, my 2008 mystery novel.
Over the years we have exchanged at many attractive destinations, including an attractive resort located right across the street from Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, CA. While there we tried out most of Del & # 39; s amenities. s without spending per room. The Tennis Club in Palm Springs, CA introduced us to that famous Hollywood celebrity community. The resorts on the Hawaiian Islands left us with amazing memories. We especially enjoyed the lush landscape on Kauai Island, a place we have visited several times. Sint Maarten with its glorious colors and beaches is the site of some of our most beloved experiences of the time. We want to go back there again and again.
Trinidad was home to a resort that brought us one of our greatest adventures. This trip gave me the backdrop for the novel I'm now finishing.
Holidays in Timeshare! We loved them and can look forward to our next paradise excursion.
